‘Rebuilding Lives Together with Wood’
Thanks to funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, a new project to support Veterans’ mental health through woodcraft skills training is being offered by Veterans Woodcraft. The ‘Rebuilding Lives Together with Wood’ project will deliver green woodworking workshops out in green spaces and woodland in North Yorkshire and the North East to 12 Veterans over six months as part of the Trust’s Forces Community Together Programme.
It will bring two groups of six Veterans and two tutors together, at least one of the tutors being a Veteran, in an informal, supportive setting where they can learn new and interesting skills with li-minded people.
Les, a Veteran Para says, “Quite simply – this place is paradise disguised as a workshop. The guys are both helpful and fun to be with. Chris, Bob, Ted and Jeremy are absolute ninjas with all things wood. This is the best therapy I have ever had. If you have the opportunity to meet these guys and do some work with them, take it. You won’t regret it.”
If you are a Veteran who is interested in participating in this project, or if you know someone who might benefit, please get in touch. No previous experience is necessary. All tools, equipment and training will be provided.
